The Office tools are so familiar and widespread that activities like the creation and publication of guidelines, findings, lessons, failures, become simple and intuitive, and therefore many of the processes and products flow onto the document.
Despite the simplicity and intuitiveness of creating and accumulating information, and despite the large amount of resources the organization invests in writing down the experience and policy, their effect is diminishing!
Do an operational lesson written in the framework of an investigatory document and a tank shell fired from a learning firing system contribute on a similar scale as tomorrow’s operational achievements? What are the effects and contribution of a professional guidance written within the framework of a summing up operational exercise? (Not referring to its importance!) Do we succeed in utilizing failures and risks located and written down within the framework of a professional research paper?
The problem – the document is a wonderful container for editing and accumulating information, but it is disconnected from effective dynamics!
The organizational activity’s scope and the increasing challenge, result in large amounts of written documents and mails, and thus the organization’s assets and experience end up being “buried “ in “a wonderfully arranged information graveyard” – the document manager!
Although the document creator writes with the intent to make the best use of the accumulated knowledge and experience, and he is ready to invest numerous resources in the writing process, he does not reap the deserving fruits he is used to reaping from a learning firing system!

Thus, at any given moment there occurs an activity in the organization – operations, discussions, training, etc. – at the end of which is a summation and a research process, whose conclusions are documented in the “research/summation” documents. These documents will contain lessons learned, guidelines, intelligential findings, results, failures, etc.
